I’m a child care worker and a member of SEIU Local 509. I own and operate Children First family child care in Fitchburg.

I love my work taking care of children and helping prepare them for a lifetime of learning, but it’s hard to get by on such low pay. Between groceries, rent, heat, and gas, it’s tough to keep up every month. If I made $15 an hour, I’d be better able to support myself and my family.

When low-wage workers like me get a raise, we spend that money in our communities. With a $15 minimum wage, I could spend more on supplies for the children I care for, and that would help the local businesses I buy from. Imagine how much it would help local businesses and our local economy if we all got a raise.
